Today's round went well, and I ended up carding an even par 72!
The weather was absolutely beautiful with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 70s. However, the wind was a little brutal! There was a consistently strong wind with an occasional gust that made you question your club selection, haha. It definitely helped on some longer holes, but then made some shorter holes a little longer. I started out #1 making an 18' putt for a great par save and birdied #3. I didn't hit as many greens, but managed some great saves. I made the turn at one under, and bogey free! The back side seems to be the tougher of the two for me, and it was nice to have a little cushion going into it. My first bogey of the day came on #12. There was a stiff wind that would come and go, and so I clubbed up on my second shot. Unfortunately, it rolled off the back and into a bunker! I managed to birdie the next par 5, but then had some poorly executed chip shots that resulted in back to back bogies. My approach shot on #17 was into another stiff wind, and I clubbed up but it still came up short of the green. I came dangerously close to getting down on myself since I was one over going into the last two holes (which are both tough finishing holes) and I didn't have a legitimate birdie chance....BUT, I returned to my game plan: target, process...and a quick prayer...and CHIPPED IN for birdie to put me back at even par!!!!!!! It was a little divine intervention, but I'm happy to take it! The last hole (#18) was already a 400 yard par 4, but was playing even longer with that strong wind in our face today. I hit two solid shots and ended up 30 yards from the pin. I hit a pretty good pitch shot to 9', and made a great putt to save par!
I was able to get some good short game work in afterwards, and had some time later this afternoon to visit Downtown Disney! Again, I'm proud of the way I played the course and stayed focused on my target and my process. I am very thankful that we had such wonderful weather, and that today's score allowed me to remain tied for second place. I'll be teeing off at 11:46 tomorrow, and once again, THANK YOU for all of your encouragement, thoughts, and prayers!!!
Have a great night!
