Eastwood - Round Two

Hhhmmm....where to begin with today....

All in all, it was a really rough day.  I got off to a really bad start.  I double bogeyed the first hole, with a bad chip and a short missed putt.  I'm not entirely sure why I started off so shaky.  I was the first tee time, and had one of those mornings where time just flies by.  I thought I had enough time to warm up, but found myself a bit rushed through my routine trying to fit everything in.  Whatever the reason, I managed to calm myself down, and got through the first side with only one other bogey.  Making the turn at three over, I have to admit I was becoming frustrated.  Other than that ugly start, I was hitting the ball well, and giving myself good looks at birdie...but they just weren't falling!

I am sorry to say that I let this get the best of me for a while.  I began the backside with a sloppy chip and a lip out for par.  I missed the next two greens, but made great up and downs.  Then...number #13 (that incredibly strange hole I referred to the first day...it's a U-turn right) was next.  I hit a great drive just to the 150 yard mark which was exactly where I wanted to hit it.  I hit what I thought was a good second shot, but it landed in the bunker to the right.  I had a difficult lie in the sand, and was only able to advance the ball a couple of yards towards the green.  My next chip was well executed, but gained a little more speed than I thought it would and ran about 12 feet past the hole.  And then, what do you know...a putt decided to fall!  It was a save for bogey...but it was a save!  I had a great attempt at birdie on #16, but it broke more than I thought.  I made a great save on the next hole for par, and found myself on the last hole with a six footer for birdie!  I made a good stroke at it, and the ball dipped into the right edge, ran along the rim and lipped all the way out back in front.  I tapped in for par to finish with a 77.

It obviously was just "ONE OF THOSE DAYS" for me!  On the positive, I am glad that I was able to recognize and deal with my frustration early in the round instead of letting it compound throughout the day.  Also, despite my putting woes, I did give myself great opportunities for birdie and made some great saves today.  I am currently in 11th place, and 11 strokes behind the leader.  Although I'm a bit behind the leader, I'm only a couple of strokes back from the top five, so a solid final round could do me some good.  I'm just going to keep trusting my stroke and be patient tomorrow.  My goal is continuing to hit fairways and greens...and to keep making the best stroke I can!

Thanks for keeping up with me, and have a great night!
